We combine EvoDevo research and knowledge with state-of-the-art computer based analysis of complex networks to find new drug targets to lead the fight against parasitic roundworms.
Neglected Tropical Diseases
Roundworms are the cause of many neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), a major burden to humanity. Current efforts to eradicate these worms are hampered by the formation of resistance against the few available drugs, as well as socio-economic factors in poor developing countries.
EvoDevo
We are researching new methods to find novel drug targets in parasitic roundworms causing NTDs. In particular, we aim to extent our analyses of constraints in nematode development to the parasites.
Network Analytics
Our approach to eradicate roundworm caused NTDs will couple knowledge from evolutionary developmental research with computational network analysis to transfer knowledge into drug development.
